Photography for a Taste-full Event

June 28th, 2013 by | Share Blog

Rhone Valley WineOne of the most rewarding aspects of our work is when we’re able to capture the perfect blend of event production and location.  Planners work hard to find the ideal location that matches the style, tenor and logistics of an event.  When all this falls into place, the results are spectacular.

This flawless marriage of event and location was recently achieved at the “Moods of Rhone” Rhone Valley Wine annual tasting event at Gary’s Loft.  The amazingly creative team at event agency Formula Street wanted to present their client’s wines in a home-like environment to allow chef demonstrations of food and wine pairings, with casual seating areas that encouraged networking and homey settings that highlighted characteristics of Rhone Valley Wines.  Gary’s Loft was the perfect choice. Riding the Boudoir Photography Wave

June 21st, 2013 by | Share Blog

Boudoir parties in NYCYou’ve seen it in the newspapers (front page on the NY Post!), on Chelsea Lately, even on the Today Show: boudoir photography is hot, in every sense of the word.  It’s a hot trend and the photos are sizzling!  At 5th Avenue Digital we know first-hand how boudoir photography brings the sexy out of even the shyest woman — when done the right way.

That means working with an experienced female photographer who knows how to gently give direction for the sexiest poses, shooting in a comfortable setting with professional lighting, lounge-y set pieces and props to create the boudoir environment.

We gave exactly that experience to a group of professional women and brides-to-be when we hosted a Boudoir Photography Night at our 29th Street photography studio.  5th Avenue Digital’s boudoir photographer, Kari Otero, provided her talent and expertise, with props and styling provided by Maya Kalman, President of event planning company Swank Productions.  Sharon Becker’s team was on hand to make each woman look their very best with Hair and Make up.   Together, they created an atmosphere that brought the sexy out in each woman — even those who thought they could not loosen up enough to pull it off.  They did, and how!

Boudoir photography NYBoudoir photos are all the rage now, especially when the photo session is done as a party with a group of friends.  Throw in some sparkling wine and nibbles, fun music, a divan and filmy drapes, and you have an unforgettable event — and gorgeous, sexy photos for you or someone special to enjoy.  To find out more or to book your own boudoir photo party, contact Beth@5thAvenueDigital.com – 212-741-6427.

Daniela and VitoDaniela and Vito traveled across the boroughs for their wedding. Their ceremony was held at the grand and beautiful Santa Barbara Church in Brooklyn, and the reception at Pier 60 in Manhattan. The reception had a candle lit atmosphere, a live mariachi band, and a lot of dancing. Photographer David Nicholas took advantage of the scenic locations and despite wet weather he managed to get some great shots along the pier (we think the puddle shot of Daniela and Vito is stunning!). Kari Otero Talks Boudoir

June 5th, 2013 by | Share Blog

Photographer Kari OteroThough wedding, portrait and event photography are a large part of Kari Otero’s business, a growing passion has been her work in boudoir photography. Here she shares some of her insights about that genre.

For those who don’t know you, can you explain what type of photography you do?

I’m a portrait, event and boudoir photographer. I take particular interest in making women feel beautiful and confident in my work and the boudoir style gives me the unique opportunity to work with women in a more intimate session and photograph them in a new light. It’s a particularly exciting time for Boudoir photography as more women are venturing into sessions.

How did you start doing boudoir photography?

My background is in dance and theater. I’ve always found myself surrounded by artists and I would take the opportunity to photograph them. I love creating storyboards and scenes for individual sessions based on the persons own history—a more dramatic version of themselves. Sensuality and heightened emotion are usually the result of individuals playing a more dramatic version of themselves. My style was developed through these initial sessions. I quickly learned that I could make individuals very comfortable in front of my lens.

In one sentence describe yourself and why you belong in boudoir photography.

I am drama without all the drama and women tend to gravitate towards that; I find you can make any woman feel sexy and great about themselves without focusing on their “shape.”
