The Gorgeous Look of Love at a Montauk Wedding

August 8th, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th_avenue_digital_wedding_photographyLast weekend we had the distinct pleasure of photographing the wedding of Rebekah and Makenzie at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk.  This beautiful bride phoned us a mere month before her wedding.  Although their wedding was in Montauk, Rebekah and her fiancé live in North Carolina so she was handling everything long distance.

Rebekah had reservations about her original photographer, and after talking to us and seeing our wedding work, she listened to her gut and decided to go with our photographer Jesse.

We are so glad she did!  Despite the 90 degree weather, Rebekah and Makenzie were serene … even blissful.  Theirs is a beautiful love story told in the way she looks at him. Read the rest of this entry »

Lessons Learned at This Year’s WPO Conference

April 27th, 2010 by | Share Blog

Women Presidents organization annual conferenceOnce a year I have the privilege of going to the Women Presidents Organization’s annual conference, and it’s usually one of the highlights of my year.  This year’s conference in Ft. Lauderdale was no exception.

It’s not just the keynote speakers and the workshops that make the experience so valuable; it is mostly being a part of the collective energy of 500 smart, successful, honest, hardworking and philanthropic women.   Each woman there has dealt with struggles and successes, and they have such incredible compassion and warmth, I am always astonished at the almost superhuman quality I feel when I return.  Like nothing is impossible!

Here are a few of the pearls I took away from some of the sessions:

Reflections on Harvard Business School and my Event Photography Business

December 9th, 2009 by | Share Blog

I have been asked many times to discuss the value I have received going through this intense program to receive a Harvard Business School education at this stage in my life and career. It’s a three year program for entrepreneurs who work inside their businesses and meet the business criteria requirements.

A New Model for Wedding Photography

September 28th, 2009 by | Share Blog

woman_in_wedding_dressFor brides and grooms, and the people who work with them, wedding budgets are tighter than ever before.  Photography can eat up a substantial portion of the wedding budget, but it’s not something you want to skimp on.  After all, the flowers die, the cake gets eaten, but the photos last forever.

All wedding couples want great photography, but their main problem, aside from tight budgets, is not knowing where to turn and who to trust.  They want someone unflappable, with solid experience and artistic talent, who can deliver wedding photos and memories that last a lifetime – at an affordable price.  They also want to own all the images and be free to order their own prints. on-location and in-studio headshots

You know the importance of having a great-looking headshot for your website, social media sites, branding and marketing efforts.  If you don’t have an up-to-date headshot, it’s understandable you may feel a sense of urgency to get “something” out there.  And in the short term, that may be an acceptable compromise.

But don’t fall into the trap of allowing a less-than-fabulous headshot linger on your LinkedIn profile!  If your headshot isn’t current, doesn’t look professional nor show you at your best, it’s time to change it. Read the rest of this entry »

How To Promote Your Brand Using Onsite Photography

August 9th, 2009 by | Share Blog

Everyone has a brand, even if they don’t know it.  Your brand is Who You Are, your company name and all that stands behind it.  Some people mistake their logo for their brand.  Your logo is not your brand; it is a symbol of your brand.  But just as your face gives the world an initial idea of who you are, your logo conveys an initial impression of your company’s brand.

abc_studioWhat could be more appropriate for a launch event than the Mother of all aircraft carriers: Intrepid?

Fans from Across the Pond

June 25th, 2009 by | Share Blog

cosmosJust as we are fascinated by things British (like the Royals!), so are Brits entranced by Americana. New York City has its own special allure, fomented by movies and television programs such as “Sex and the City.” For many Brits and Americans (like it or not), the characters from “Sex and the City” personify modern New Yorkers. This fact was brilliantly demonstrated last week at an event produced by the UK-based company Incentivise.  Read the rest of this entry »
