Smurfs light up the Green Screen..and the Big Apple!

July 28th, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th avenue digitalAs some of you may know from our previous post – or may have seen in the news – this week was declared Smurf Week in New York City, tying in with the new Smurf movie that features locations in and around the city.  Most of the activities have been organized by NYC & Company, which turned to us to provide green screen photography at their big launch event on Monday, July 25th at Columbus Circle.

Judging by the crowds and the photos, the event was a huge success.  Our photographer, Stavros, said he felt like Santa at Macy’s right before Christmas, with the hoards of people waiting for their turn in front of the green screen.  Stavros reports that the line wound from the tent in Columbus Circle into Central Park.  Hundreds of people waited in the rain to get their photos taken.

It’s clear to see why they waited.  The photos are adorable!  Yet despite the rain and crowds, the event was well organized so everything ran smoothly.  People were friendly and patient, and they loved the photos, T-shirts and other fun swag given away in the tent.  Kudos to NYC & Company for producing another stellar city event! Promoting Britain with Photo Sharing

March 21st, 2011 by | Share Blog

fouth_wall_events We’ve been talking about photo sharing, and how it’s becoming a more crucial element of corporate events.   This fact was illustrated yet again with a recent event produced by Fourth Wall Events.

First, it’s worth mentioning how much we love working with the Fourth Wall Events, one of New York’s most innovative event producers.  They always insert some kind of twist into what they do, adding details that make you stop and say, “Wow, that’s cool!”  For example, on their website they provide an event space calculator that helps you figure out how many people will fit in your space, or how much space you need to fit a certain number of people.  Check it out here! Trends in Bar Mitzvah Photography

February 1st, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th_avenue_digital_socialBar and Bar Mitzvahs are among the most rewarding jobs we do here at 5th Avenue Digital. They are universally happy occasions, mostly free of drama, capturing families exuberantly enjoying this important milestone.  Even after all these years of photographing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, it’s truly a pleasure to work with parents and planners on these events.

When it comes to Bar and Bat Mitzvah photography, some traditional elements remain unchanged, such as family portraits, bema shots and photos of the candle lighting.  However, other aspects have changed and new trends are on their way to becoming new traditions. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new in Bar Mitzvah photography. Read the rest of this entry »

February 23rd, 2010 by | Share Blog

fashion week onsite printIt’s only natural, when you think about it, that the fashion industry has so quickly adopted the internet and all its permutations.  After all, fashion is a visual industry that relies on consumers picking up new trends.  What better way to make that happen than with fashion blogs and websites?

Fashion websites are popping up all over, almost daily, spawning a thriving new genre of the fashion industry.  Some sites provide a visual venue for fashion-hungry hipsters who like showing off their outfits, while others feature fashion bloggers.  For all these websites, photography is a vital component.

How Major Corporations Use Branded Photography for Marketing

November 19th, 2009 by | Share Blog

Today’s consumers are inundated with media messages.  We get bombarded from all sides with advertising, so much that we end up tuning out most of it.  This fact isn’t lost on corporations.  They are hungry for new ways to more directly connect with their customers.

These companies are learning that branded photography is an ideal way to create a personal, one-on-one connection with their customers.  And because the connection is created with a photograph, it’s personal, tangible and lasting.

So who’s doing this, and how?  Here’s a round-up of some recent events we’ve produced using branded photography for large corporations.

Green Screen Photo Greatness

October 29th, 2009 by | Share Blog

Lately, green screen photography has become more in-demand for events.  In taking on these projects we’ve found new ways to use green screen technology that yields big benefits for our clients.  Here’s a run-down of some of these innovations that may spark ideas for your events.

For St. Joseph’s Hospital gala at the Museum of Natural History, they wanted to break away from the usual “stand and smile” portrait photo, and offer something a little different.  Playing off the location, we created a green screen photography background using a photo of one of the dioramas at the museum.
