The Mansion at Natirar: A Wedding Photographer’s Dream Location

December 12th, 2012 by | Share Blog

mansion at natirarOur photographers were thrilled to finally shoot a wedding at The Mansion at Natirar, the place in Far Hills, NJ that Richard Branson bought as an event space.  The most obvious advantage The Mansion has over any other location we have seen is the killer views during the ceremony.

Formerly owned by the King of Morocco, The Mansion is an historic estate that has been transformed into a luxury Banquet and Catering venue, in partnership with Restaurant Associates.  Their attention to period details and modern accommodations makes The Mansion a distinctive location for weddings – and for wedding photography.  The exceptional creative powers at By Robin, the wedding planners, made full use of the space, giving this couple and their families a wedding experience that truly expressed their individuality, complete with a drum solo by the groom.

Real Wedding: Katherine and Sam at 24 5th Avenue

October 10th, 2012 by | Share Blog

BJ enright for 5th avenue digital  Katherine and Sam managed to have a down home wedding here in NYC.  They got married in their backyard,  literally.  She lives in the building where 24 fifth is located.  She wore her moms wedding dress which is more unusual these days with a city wedding.    Taking a look at the images, you can tell they have country feel even in the middle of the big city.

The photos express the down-to-earth nature of the couple, and capture  a wedding that had a very simple and elegant feel.   Everything, from getting ready to the her mom’s dress expresses the simplicity.    The couple was very appreciative of everything on their wedding day as well as being  very focused on the spirituality of their ceremony.bj enright for 5th avenue digital

One of our more recent additions to our photography team,  BJ Enright shot the event.  He found the couple very easy going, loving, fun and full of joy.    What more can a photographer ask for.  For more images from Katherine and Sam’s wedding check out the Link

A Same-Sex Wedding to Warm the Heart

June 26th, 2012 by | Share Blog

When we see a couple like John and Scott get married, we are reminded of the importance of the New York legislation enacted last year allowing same-sex unions.  Theirs is a heart-warming story, similar to the stories of so many gay and lesbian couples in the state.  John and Scott have been together 27 years, an amazing feat for any couple, no matter what their sexual orientation.  They have been waiting for many (too many!) years to be legally married to each other.

Here at 5th Avenue Digital, we feel it’s a great privilege to document the weddings of couples who have loved, struggled, cried and laughed together for many years and are so happy and ready to be married.  For the same-sex couples we photograph, this sentiment is even stronger.  The companionship and love they share emanates from their photos.  It warms the heart!  Take a look and see if your heart is lifted, too.

Real Weddings: Illene and Brian get married at Bridgewaters

June 11th, 2012 by | Share Blog

bridgewaters wedding photographer5th Avenue Digital recently photographed the Marks-Aruti wedding at Bridgewaters, featuring all the traditional elements with some modern twists to make it their own.  There’s no better wedding location than Bridgewaters to capture all the character and magic of New York City.

Bridgewaters provided all the Food & Beverage, including the cake by Lidiya Zdrok, their talented Pastry Chef, and onsite coordination by Bridgewater’s ever-organized Evania Taveras.  Flowers are by Maria Christina Nino from MC Nino Designs.  The DJ was from Hank Lane’s More Than Music.  Jesse Anders  was the wedding photographer for 5th Avenue Digital.  Here are a few more of our favorites:

Ideas for Wedding Photography – from the Best of 2011

March 25th, 2012 by | Share Blog

5th avenue digital, 5th Avenue SocialThe best way to get new ideas is from looking at what’s already been done, and planning a wedding is no exception.  This past year we shot weddings of all types: large and small, raucous and intimate, religious and civil.  Each was a beautiful reflection of the couple and the people closest to them.
The trend for weddings these days is to make it your own.  Gone are the cookie-cutter weddings!  Now, it’s all about individuality.  Photography is the perfect way to showcase and document what makes a wedding special.  To that end, here are examples of our favorite wedding photography for 2011.

Details Matter – In Life and Photography

September 25th, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th_avenue_digitalMost clichés are born of truth, and “the devil’s in the details” is no exception.  The importance of attention to detail is true for most areas in life and especially so for wedding photography.

Funny, so many of our clients worry about the big shots: certain poses with specific family members, the ceremonial kiss, the first dance.  While it’s crucial that we capture these major moments, it’s really the detail shots that give wedding photography depth, texture and interest.

The most memorable and evocative wedding photography includes lots of detail shots in addition to capturing the big moments.  These might include close-ups of thefour seasons wedding cake and flowers, the back of the bride’s gown, the wedding rings, and most important of all: the emotions.

The Gorgeous Look of Love at a Montauk Wedding

August 8th, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th_avenue_digital_wedding_photographyLast weekend we had the distinct pleasure of photographing the wedding of Rebekah and Makenzie at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk.  This beautiful bride phoned us a mere month before her wedding.  Although their wedding was in Montauk, Rebekah and her fiancé live in North Carolina so she was handling everything long distance.

Rebekah had reservations about her original photographer, and after talking to us and seeing our wedding work, she listened to her gut and decided to go with our photographer Jesse.

We are so glad she did!  Despite the 90 degree weather, Rebekah and Makenzie were serene … even blissful.  Theirs is a beautiful love story told in the way she looks at him. Read the rest of this entry »
