Engagement Moments to Remember and Photograph!

January 11th, 2011 by | Share Blog

5th_avenue_digital_engagement_photosThis holiday season, we had the privilege of photographing two marriage proposals, both different in style and circumstance but similar in romanticism.  Men, take note!  Here are two ways to really bowl over your intended.

The men behind these proposals spent hours (and considerable expense) carefully planning their engagement occasion to awe and amaze their beloveds.  Both women were successfully bowled over and both said yes!  Both marriage proposals were planned as part of a New Year holiday trip to New York City each couple had planned.  In both cases, we worked long distance to execute exactly the engagement scenario that each man wanted to create.

One proposal was done outdoors in Central Park.  “Ron’s” fiancé-to-be didn’t even know our photographer was there, because Ron wanted to present the photo as a surprise gift afterwards.  Our photographer found the couple at a pre-determined spot in the park, positioned herself well away from them and had an assistant with her to act as decoy.

We got some beautiful photos, made all the better in their naturalness and spontaneity because the photographer’s presence wasn’t felt.  The couple’s joy and happiness is palpable in their photos!  After the proposal, our photographer rush-processed the shots, chose one to print, and had the framed photo delivered to the couple’s hotel by the next day.

The other proposal was more complex in execution but equally romantic.  “Peter,” a television producer, wanted to incorporate the proposal into a studio portrait session.  “Helen” thought they were going to the studio for a standard couple’s portrait session that Peter’s dad had given to them as a gift.  During the session, our photographer captured the couple in front of a green screen and with a standard background, and we had a digital technician onsite to process and print the photos.

5th_avenue_digital_engagement_photosLittle did Helen know we’d prepared a green screen background in advance that said, “Will you marry me?”  We printed the photos there in the studio for them to review, and when Helen was looking at them she came across one photo in the bunch with the Big Question.  At that moment, Peter dropped to his knees and presented the ring.  And we were there to capture it all!  We even created another image with “She said yes!” for them to send to family and friends.

These proposals clearly indicate that chivalry is not dead.  Even more, they show how photography can be used to make a marriage proposal even more romantic, meaningful and memorable.  Photography also allows the couples to share their seminal engagement moments with family and friends.  We take pride in working with these gentlemen and using photography to help bring their romantic ideas to life.  We can’t wait to see what they do for their weddings!5th avenue digital green screen
